Asbestos management surveys
An asbestos management survey will be required to fulfil your legal duty to manage asbestos if you are responsible for maintaining a property, either commercial or non-commercial. Its intention is to manage asbestos contaminated materials (ACM’s) during the everyday use and occupation of the building. Asbestos management surveys aim to ensure that no-one is harmed by the presence of asbestos in the property.
Asbestos refurbishment demolition surveys (R & D)
The purpose of the asbestos R & D survey is to locate and identify all ACM’s present, so that they can be removed prior to demolition or major refurbishment work taking place. Therefore, this type of survey is much more intrusive than the asbestos management survey. It involves destructive inspection of the fabric of the building in order to locate all ACM’s before any structural work begins.
